Jean Gardy Bessard, also known as Jean Bessard, is the Founder & CEO of Techorph Hospitality Solutions. A recurring focus in his work is bridging the gap between hospitality operations and technology so that systems support the people delivering the service.

A Second Year of Recognition

On November 27, 2018, the Greater Miami & the Beaches Hotel Association (GMBHA) presented Jean Bessard of Acqualina Resort & Spa on the Beach with the Hospitality Leadership Award in the IT Manager category at JW Marriott Marquis Miami. This was his second consecutive year of recognition.

The recognition followed his 2017 Hospitality Leadership Award in the IT Manager category during his work at Acqualina.

The Gap Between Systems and Service

Hotels depend on technology across reservations, front office, housekeeping, engineering, finance, food and beverage, and other departments. Each team experiences the same technology environment from a different point of view.

A technical team may see a system that is available and responding. An operational team may still face duplicate entry, missing information, unclear ownership, or a task that has to be completed outside the system.

Bridging that gap requires understanding both perspectives. The discussion needs to connect what the technology can do with what the hotel needs to accomplish.

For Jean, this is where service excellence and IT leadership meet. Technology decisions should make sense to the department using the system, the leader approving the investment, and the employee responsible for the guest experience.

Making Technology a Shared Business Conversation

A shared conversation begins with specific operational questions. What task is the department trying to complete? Which information does it need? Where is the handoff? Who is responsible when the process stalls?

These questions provide a clearer basis for assessing systems and integrations. They also help leaders recognize that a technology issue may involve process, training, ownership, or coordination as well as software.

The goal is to give hospitality teams and technical teams a common understanding of the problem and a clear way to evaluate the next decision.

From Recognition to a Continuing Leadership Focus

Jean Gardy Bessard brings that focus to his current role as Techorph’s Founder & CEO. Techorph’s work centers on helping hotel leaders understand their technology environment in relation to the operation it supports.

Techorph HTMS™, the Hotel Technology Management System, is designed to connect the management view of systems, integrations, vendors, contracts, costs, and operational dependencies. That shared view gives technology discussions a broader business context.

Bridging hospitality and technology remains a continuing responsibility. It requires attention to the employee experience, the guest journey, and the decisions that connect them.

The recognition is part of Jean Bessard’s hospitality technology history. His current leadership at Techorph carries forward the focus he describes today: excellence in service and a stronger connection between technology and hotel operations.
